Navigated TMS (nTMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe, effective, and non-invasive medical technology which efficaciously treat a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
- The target treatment site of TMS is a specific spot in the brain. Without neuronavigation, traditional TMS merely relies on theoretical estimates for determination of the treatment spot.
- It explains why TMS has been around for several years yet without very promising effect. It is due to treatment inaccuracy as the actual brain never visualized.
- Our nTMS device is exclusively integrated with 3D brain imaging with its navigation system. Such cutting-edge science and technology help us to target the stimulation pulses to the patient’s own anatomy.
With such accuracy, nTMS also allows us to target other brain areas to treat different neurological diseases aside from depression, such as anxiety, and dementia etc.
Features of Navigated TMS
TMS treatment is an non-invasive procedure. No sedation or medication is required. Patients remain totally conscious during treatment sessions and resume normal daily activities after the therapy.
TMS only modulates the brain activities without altering the body chemistry. It has none of the side effects that drug induces, such as weight gain, fatigue, and nausea.
With abundant clinical evidence, TMS has already been approved by FDA in 2008 for its efficacy to treat antidepressant-resistant depression. It also has CE-approval which attests its safety on humans.
Combined the 3D Brain Imaging with TMS, our TMS visualizes patient’s brain anatomy so as to ensure that the treatment is accurately carried out.
